[Trying to] Stay Positive

My Mac in a relaxing place...
The inner pessimist in me is trying her best to think happy thoughts as Sunday draws near. No matter how many times we check the Weather Channel, hurricane Irene is still heading towards us with a huge grin. From the looks of it, my area's warning signs are between high and extreme. Great: so much for avoiding Florida at all costs.

Plus... our sump pump is dead. Just in time. Hopefully we can get it replaced quickly, yet not ruining my day with dad that took weeks of planning. Damn Murphy's Law. >.<

I'm sure all we'll get is high wind and lots of water, but it still doesn't help that I have no idea how long it'll take. Looks like I'll need to focus on happy thoughts, like music and anime instead of calm beaches, flowers, and flying poptarts. You know, the stuff that really puts an individual in a good mood?

A bit of light reading during the hurricane, no?
Speaking of which... to get my mind on a higher plane... some random stuff I guess to make my blog less blah with the dark background...

The one collection I'm proud of. :)

it was far better than predicted. everything is just fine in my area. only several leaves were knocked off the branches. :)

Where did you buy Emilie's autobiography? I've been looking online, but everywhere I look it's so expensive!

I got the book on Emilie Autumn's official site when the 3rd printing came out. At $60.00 it is so freakin' pricey: I really don't blame you!

But at least it's still readily available unlike this time last year. Fangirl was not a happy camper.

Yeah. I looked on her site and it was around $70. And want it. But I don't want to spend $70. I may eventually end up spending that much on it anyway, whether I like it or not. We'll have to see.

In your opinion, is it worth the money?

On one hand, absolutely. The thing weighs a ton and there are whacky illustrations and doodles on every other page. It's some really high quality, glossy paper! It's not like you're buying a 600-paged hardback for $50 and get mediocre-to-poor quality paper, a cheap cover, and small words. It really is a beautiful book.

But the story is kind of intense and is hard to read all at once. EA does not hold back her frustration with her experience. I can sympathize with her, but at the same time I know she needed help. Sadly the "institution" failed to practice what it preaches, you know?

At least the writing style is interesting. :)

Overall, I do recommend it, even if you buy it and decide to read it later. I haven't finished it because of school. lol

Lol, she's quite odd, isn't she? that's one of the reasons I want to read her book. I've seen some live videos and interviews of her, and I always wonder how much is "for real" and how much is a show. I'll probably buy it eventually, but it won't be for awhile. I don't have time to read a big, huge, intense book right now.
She's an interesting person though. She obviously has some deep-rooted issues, but that's what makes her so intriguing.

odd but entertaining. at the very least, I think she blows up her ideas outrageously and make them larger and more theatrical than reality. it's kinda like as Pete Steele from Type O Negative once said, "If I don't exaggerate [my music], I'd be writing about what I had for dinner last night." XD

she said she has bipolar disorder, and sometimes it's not too surprising. lately I heard she went on about Lady GaGa ripping off her. overboard and hilarious IMHO. that's why I pay more attention to the music.

There's really something very endearing about her oddness. I bought the deluxe version of "Opheliac", and there's an interview with her in which she answers "the questions we should be asking". Something about that cracked me up.
She's hilarious. Still not sure how much is a show, but she definitely exaggerates many of her real thoughts and ideas.
